Naomi Brett Rourke

Naomi Brett Rourke is an author, theatre director, and teacher. Naomi has both an English and a Theatre Arts degree. She has directed over 25 full stage productions, including works by Arthur Miller, Neil Simon, Thornton Wilder, and William Shakespeare, and musicals such as Fiddler on the Roof, Once on This IslandZombie Prom, and The Boyfriend. When she is not writing, she can be found with a book in her hand. Very often, she is reading two or three at the same time. Horror and murder mysteries are her favorite genres.

Naomi lives near the beach with her husband Tim. She has three children, three step-children and nearly a baseball team of grandkids. Her menagerie includes dogs, cats and a tortoise.

Pseudonym

The name Naomi Brett Rourke, is a pseudonym—a pen name, taken from women in her life who influenced her to become the woman she is today. From a place of gratitude and love: Naomi is the name her birth mother was going to call her if she didn’t have to give her up for adoption. Brett is the maiden name of her Liverpudlian adoptive grandmother. From the time Naomi was born, her grandmother would read to her constantly. Lastly, Rourke is the maiden name of her adoptive mother who transferred her love of books to her daughter.

Author

As an author, Naomi’s work has been published in a variety of magazines. Her stories have appeared in the Young Adult journal: Refractions, The Mature Years, and London’s Morpheus Tales. Her work has also appeared in online magazines such as Cultured Vultures, www.TriggerWarningShortStories.com and more. Some of Naomi’s stories have been featured in multiple anthologies: National best seller Straight Outta Tombstone, Enter the Acapolypse, Distressing Damsels, Life on the Rez, Michigan’s Brewed Awakenings 2

Coyote

Naomi contributed the award-winning short story Coyote to Straight Outta Tombstone, a Weird West anthology which was published on July 4, 2017. It is included alongside fellow writers: Kevin J. Anderson, Maurice Broaddus, Jim Butcher, Larry Correia, Alan Dean Foster, Sarah A. Hoyt, Sam Knight, Jodi Lynn Nye, Bryan Thomas Schmidt, Michael A. Stackpole, David Lee Summers, Robert E. Vardeman, and Peter J. Wacks.

The anthology was edited by David Boop for Baen Books, and it became a best seller shortly after its release.

On September 2018, Straight Outta Tombstone made its way into bookstores as a mass market paperback—or pocket size. It’s a good read y’all.
